Chasm City by Alastair Reynolds

I didn’t dislike this, but I don’t think it’s as good as what became the Revelation Space trilogy. The plot, stripped of its glitz and glamour noir-cyberpunk garments (which owed a lot I thought to the Sprawl – but then, what doesn’t), is rather cliched, the pacing is slow, and although the three-strand narrative works well, there are some gaps between them the size of one of Reynolds’ starships. On the other hand, it’s a great creation, characters were okay though dialogue not great… 3/5 for this one.
